Hi Anne, thank you for your response. I was searching by breed on petfinders. That is where I found the chi rescues stating you needed prior Chi experience to adopt one.
Having yorkies, I'm familiar with fragile dogs, and yorkie health problems. Before I adopt/purchase from a reputable breeder I'm trying to make sure that a Chi is the right dog for me. Chihuahuas have very distinct personalities and medical needs, and of course they're very small and fragile, more so as pups. I can't imagine why you would need to have previously owned a chi to adopt a rescue adult unless it had behavioral problems or special medical needs.
