My Lupita also has slipping patellas. Even though both rear legs were
affected, she had more problems with her left. I had her knee operated and it
is fine now. it took her about a week to really start walking on it, and she
does still favor it at times. However, she would still play and run. It took
almost a year for her hair to fully grow back, they shaved it to operate and it
looked like a little chicken leg. I decided to operate because she would spend
more time hiding in her crate than walking around. The other leg never seems
to have a problem. -- em :)

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Slipping Patella

Hi, my chi cross has a slipping patella and I would like to talk to
anyone who has had this problem with their chi or can someone tell me
sites where I can get advice from people. My chi is only 16 months and
her leg is getting affected at least twice a week. I think she is grade
1 and I know they operate at grade 3 and 4 but I just need to talk with
someone who has experienced this condition. Dorothy
