Lupita's knee suddenly started giving her problems very young, about 7 months old. I think she may have hurt herself running around. I heard her yelp, but was walking fine for the rest of the day. The next day, she didn't want to come out of her crate. I had her operated on the next month when she was 8 months old. The vet checked the other knee, and it also slipped but that never bothers her. She has her off days, like all of us who have had surgery, but for the most part you can't tell there was anything wrong with that knee. - em :-)

Emily, could you tell me what age Lupita started having problems with her patellas and what age she got operated at. Dorothy emily Bloise <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: My Lupita also has slipping patellas. Even though both rear legs were affected, she had more problems with her left. I had her knee operated and it is fine now. it took her about a week to really start walking on it, and she does still favor it at times. However, she would still play and run. It took almost a year for her hair to fully grow back, they shaved it to operate and it looked like a little chicken leg. I decided to operate because she would spend more time hiding in her crate than walking around. The other leg never seems to have a problem. -- em :) ===================== From: drthymckendrick <drthymckendrick@ <mailto:drthymckendrick%40yahoo.co.uk> yahoo.co.uk> Date: 2006/12/13 Wed AM 11:57:58 CST To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:Chihuahuas%40yahoogroups.com> ups.com Subject: [Chihuahuas] Slipping Patella Hi, my chi cross has a slipping patella and I would like to talk to anyone who has had this problem with their chi or can someone tell me sites where I can get advice from people. My chi is only 16 months and her leg is getting affected at least twice a week. I think she is grade 1 and I know they operate at grade 3 and 4 but I just need to talk with someone who has experienced this condition.
