I hated feeling so out of control and helpless to do something for her too.
Glad we got through that and had a vet who knew exactly what to do!

Of all the pups I have ever raised, only one has ever had a reaction and boy
was it scary! The little fellow swelled up and looked like a shar pei pup! Vet
also made not on his chart, and when he was sold, I made sure I was very clear
to the new owner that he does have allergic reactions and will need bynadril
before every shot and that new vet should be made aware and should give a
antihistamine shot and she should stay at the vet for at least a half hour
after the shot just to be safe. Scariest thing I ever faced!

Rein had an allergic reaction to the first booster she got after we
brought her home. Scared me too! She was sleepy but the thing that got our
attention right away was that she got bumps on her otherwise smooth little
head, and her eyes swelled. We rushed her back to the vet and he gave her an
antihistmine shot. She was back to normal in a very short amount of time after
that. Our vet made note of the reaction on her chart, so when she got her next
shot, he gave her the antihistamine shot with it. She didn't have any problems
that time. The vet even called us at home that night to make sure she was
okay. I was very surprised at his phone call, and pleased that he cared enough
to check on her!

Maybe an antihistamine would help Pebbles. I'm sure your vet will be able to
tell you. Hope she does better after the next shot!

Pebbles was 8 wks old Thursday so I gave her the first booster shot
yesterday. She was a good girl and didn't even yelp! Things went downhill from
there as she was lethargic and sleepy all day long! I have been giving assorted
critters (including snakes, cats, dogs, horses, cows etc) for over 30 years and
this was a first for me! She is fine today but sure had me worried yesterday. I
will be consulting with my vet before the next shot for sure! Anyone else have
this type of reaction?

Cindy Lynn and the now Perky Pebbles!
