Dogs, like humans, have distinct personalities. Some have a lot to say, others
prefer to keep quiet. IT doesn't make a difference if it is male or female.
Some breeds are yappier than others as a general rule, and chis are one of
those breeds, but that does not mean that all chis are gonna be barkers, It all
depends on the chis personality and how it is raised.

As a Deaf person, I have never had a problem with barking, lol, but my son gets
so mad if they make ANY noise! I tell him they have a right to communicate too!
It all depends on where you draw the line. My Pepper is a hearing dog and he is
suppose to bark to alert me. But he is suppose to bark ONLY to alert me.
However, he also gets "time off" from working to just play. Once he is given
permission to go into play mode, he will run around and bark his head off. He
has a lot to say, lol. My Dinah may bark once every two months or
something...she is a quiet girl. The other chis all fall somewhere between.
Some are barkers and some aren't/ Some bark just to be barking and some bark
when they have something to communicate.

I currently have 2 Chihuahuas and have had them all my life. I acquired my
male from a supposed reputable breeder who has shown her dogs in Westminster
and he is the nastiest Chihuahua I have ever had. He still barks incessantly
at my husband and son, as well as guests. He's great with my daughters and
myself and we love and adore him. I recently acquired a 1 year old female
Chihuahua that was purchased by her original owners from a puppy store. She is
the sweetest Chihuahua I have ever met (go figure). She also hardly ever
barks. I don't know if it's because she's a female or what the reason is
exactly, but I now believe that all Chihuahuas are not nasty or barky....I'm
hoping her personality rubs off on my male...Ha! Ha!
