Does anyone know if there is a similar disorder in dogs? Pepper has suffered
this since he was a pup...he will be 10 this year. I probably should have it
checked again since I am sure the knowledge has increased over the years, but
at the time, when it was so bad, they didn't know what it could be. They ran
all kinds of test ect. In the beginning, we all feared it was parvo, but
obviously it wasn't. It is also very foul smelling and becomes worse if he eats
any wet/can food, ect. He only has problems about once every couple of months
and we have been able to keep the times down since I have bettered learned what
sets it off, ect and can take precautions. Before I knew some of the causes, it
would happen a couple times a month.

I recognize the stool, I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). A couple of
days on bland/low fiber and I am as good as new.

  I personally don't give cottage cheese as a treat...and I don't like it
myself, but I do keep it on hand for Pepper and give it to him as needed for
his stomach. Vets have never been able to find out what is wrong with him, but
sometimes he gets a real bloody slimy stool and the cottage cheese helps cure
this. I normally give him like a tablespoon or two twice a day for 3 days for
that.
