As a breeder, I neither ship nor get my own from anyone that I can not pick up directly. HOWEVER, I know of many breeders who do ship with no problems whatsoever. If one is looking for a show dog or a quality breeder, it is not always possible to find one close enough to pick up. Sometimes shipping is necessary. I guess that is why my own are not as of great quality as I would like. If I were willing to have them shipped to me, I could have some of the best. Likewise, I would be able to more easily find great homes for my pups if I were willing to ship them. Personally, I just can't do it, but I can certainly understand the reasoning behind those who do. And there are the ones that are shipped with no ill affects whatsoever. Most good reputable breeders that ship won't ship them real young, they will also make allowances for the climates etc.. Probably the majority of animals that are shipped suffer no ill effects what so ever. Besides that I wanted a breeder I trusted. IMO little tiny delicate chi babies may be found in most states of this country. If you care enough about giving the baby the best life you can, don't start it by shipping him/her.
