#1. I'm not sure if there is any difference as to which is easier. I had no trouble house breaking my long coat male chi. He was broke in a week. My female is 5 months and still not broke. I also have a 1 year old Chi/Pom mix and he will go outside everytime I take him but if he needs to go in the house he does. All my male dogs are neutered and they all still lift their leg.
#2. I think that depends on the dog but I think females are usually more friendly but not always. #3. The barking doesn't matter if their male or female. All my chi's bark. #4. Either. All my chi's get along great with my cats. Betty
Hi Group: As I mentioned in my introduction to the list, my husband and I are hoping to add a chihuahua to our family sometime in the future. A few questions for you seasoned owners. In your opinion and from your own experience, can you comment on gender in regard to: 1) toilet-training ... who is easier to train ... male/female? Usually a male dog will lift his leg to urinate. Is this common with small male dogs like chihuahuas? I heard that neutered males will squat like females. Is this true? 2) temperament ... who is more docile and easy going, more affectionate ... male/female? 3) barking ... who is a more consistent barker ... male/female? 4) getting along with other pets such as cats ... who is likely to adapt easier ... male/female?
