Yeah, my two do that too, they are the same age....one male and one female.
They go, "rahhhh, rahhhh, rrrrerrreerrrourrr" nip nip nip, they get up on their
hind legs like antelope and kinda dance around playfully growling at each
other. Seems like they like to see who is stronger. I call it "pronging"
because it reminds me of those shows you see in africa where the antelope are
up on their hind legs dancing around with their front legs on each others
shoulders.
I guess the other advice I would have is watch "Dog Whisperer" and let them
know it is not acceptable behaviour or that there is only one place that you
allow the behaviour. I don't allow mine to do it on the couch...they bound all
over the place catapulting off things. My female is gentle if she jumps on you
while playing/running but the male just jumps right on your stomach (oooof)
he's such a leadweight. I call them my mexican jumping beans hahaha
Here they are romping with my son

Oh, it sounds like there are two tasmanian devils in your house during
those faces in the "playfight1" picture - LOL!

        Hi Jan,
This is going to sound dumb, but are you sure they're fighting?
Chi's do this play fighting thing that alarms most new owners and sometimes you
about think your dogs are going to kill each other when they're playing. Let's
see if I can describe it again - LOL! They go wraaa wraaa wraaa and fence with
their fangs a little and then run around the house like crazy and then wraaaa
wraaa wraaa some more and will do more of the open mouth thing and make noises
like they are killing each other (growling, moaning, yelping and carrying on)
even though it's just open mouths almost touching each other. Then they run
around taking turns chasing each other again. Repeat over and over until they
get tired of it.
A playing dog does the butt up in the air and front legs on the
ground and then runs around.
An aggressive dog (chi at least) will arch their tail over their
back and strut over stiffly and kind of push the other dog around. Watch when
they think someone is walking by on the street, but not coming up to your door
- they stand up straight, and that tail goes up over the back and is arched and
they get stiff.
If I can find the picture of the play fighting, I'll attach it.

I have two chi chis and they got into a big fight this morning. I am
afraid of the older one getting badly hurt. They have been growling at
one another and it seems like one of them is egging the other one on.
It hurts me to have brothers behaving badly especially if they are
going to be living in the same house. I need some advice!!
