Hi.
My chi friend, Pepe' had one undescended testicle. My vet said that if I
didn't have it removed, it would increase his risk of cancer. Since I was
going to neuter him anyway, we just had this done at the same time. Of course,
removing an undescended testicle is more invasive, so the risk for the surgery
is increased, as well as the cost to perform it.
Pepe' had to wear one of those big plastic collars which prevented him from
pulllng at his stitches. He was sent home with pain meds, but after the first
day he didn't seem to need them. All went well for him.
Of course, I was worried before the surgery, but my worry was needless. He
is fine now. He has gained some weight since the surgery, so watch the food
intake on your chi. Other than that, Pepe' is his same old self.
Hope that helps.
Theresa
