I was told to try baby food. Gerber has stage two lamb with gravy, beef with
gravy, chicken with gravy etc and you can also get beef with rice, different
meat and sweet potatoes etc. Sick dogs and cats can't resist it! I am currently
feeding it to my 15yr old cat who is becoming more and more picky! Apparently
it is a trick by vets that has been known for a long time and if it is good
enough for human babies....Doesn't cost that much more than a can of cat or dog
food either! Also there is nutrical (comes in a tube)

I doubt your dog is getting everything he needs from hot dogs.
If my guy won't eat what he usually does I sometimes grind a bit of liver treat
to start him on the dish which he ends up realizing isn't so bad.
My vet said I should not force him if he skips a meal (I feed twice a day).
Like us sometimes there not hungry.
Personally I never feed dog food but make a homemade diet of sweet potatoes and
75% meat either chicken or beef. He also gets a bit of fish oil in there and
supplements. Because I do not feed dog food I need to be mindful of other needs
he has, which are fulfiled by his supplements. I have had lots of trouble
getting his blood work right. Finally its normal and I attribute it to the good
diet and supplements.
I add Nature's Logic food fortifier (a little goes a long way given the size of
these guys) and Nature's Logic Salmon oil (must be refrigerated).
Good luck and save the wieners for the baseball game! LOL
