Never heard this and I have been breeding chis for 10 years and owned them for
20. A tong that hangs out when the mouth is closed, would actually be counted
against a dog if one was showing or something. Also, usually when they hang out
of a closed mouth, it is usually due to missing teeth...either missing from old
age, injury, fault, or loosing puppy teeth.

  Subject: [Chihuahuas] Long Tongue

I've noticed that sometimes, when Maxx is really relaxed and his
mouth his closed. He'd have a bit of his tongue sticking out. It's
hardly noticeable until you see that it's not part of his lip.
Heehee. Now I'm used to seeing it out like that especially if he's
sleeping. There's just this little flap of a tongue sticking out.
I'm going to try to look for a picture of it and show everyone.

Anyway, the other day, we came from the vet to get his shot and I
noticed it sticking out again. I mentioned it to the vet assistant
when she remarked that if only Maxx had been a girl, he'd be worth
more because they prefer chis with longer tongues to be female. Is
there truth to that? I didn't take offense, it was just a strange
  comment.

But his tongue seems to be longer than usual because when I pry his
mouth open (when it's closed), I'd see his tongue outside his teeth,
instead of hiding inside when his mouth is closed. Does that make
sense? I'm okay with it and he seems okay with it. Just wondering
if that's normal and if it isn't, is there some dental or medical
issue that I need to watch out for.

  Thanks everyone.
