Thanks, This month is two years he has been gone. He would have been 4 last week. So the memory is especially raw in November. December isn't too good either since I lost another dog, Cookie, on New years Eve last year. I SAW her get hit....my son was even in the road trying to stop traffic and the cars didn't even slow down for him. We were trying to hard to get her but she kept running from us. The car that hit her didn't even know if they had hit a dog or me or my son who was in the road!! I picked her up immediately and begged passing cars to slow down, but no one would....even with us in the road they just went around at high speed. Marsha

He could get out any time he chose, but knew he was not allowed to. Most of the time, he would get out and run around during the day while we were gone and then when he saw us coming home, he would run back under the fence and pretend he had been there the whole time!! lol. One day I was having a particularly bad day and I scolded him for being out and he took off running...he had never run from me before. I looked for him all day, called neighbors and everything. One neighbor called me later that evening and told me he had just left his house, I went out to look for him and found him dead on the side of the road just in front of my house. He was coming back home and had been hit not more than 10 minutes earlier. I still have not forgiven myself for scolding him. He loved to just go visit, then wait on the porch for us to get home. We gave him to a friend that had some acreage, that dog was in heaven. We have about an acre fenced, and when I took Caesar as a foster, I went around and checked every inch of it. I'd never fostered such a little dog! Several years ago, when we had our two lab/mixes and a doberman girl names Jinx, we had a horrible storm with trees and limbs down. We were clearing and cleaning up, but I didn't even think about walking the fence, and since we are mostly woods, I am not able to see the fence line. About a week later, my neighbor, a couple of houses down, called to say my two boys were at his house. (He takes care of our dogs and vice versa.) I couldn't belive it. I'd just let them out! I went out, and my dobe was at the door, ready to come in, so I brought the dogs home and then went out and walked the fence and found a whole tree had come down across the fence n the back corner. Either they didn't notice for a week, or they just didn't care. Needless to say, everytime we have a good storm, I go out and walk the fence.
