I am so sorry to hear that i know it is hart to see your dog getting run over.My brother and i watched hi dog getting run over when we were kids. My brother never got an other one .I feel for you .I lost one that was poisoned ,we never found the person that killed him.People don't care they run you over .It is not you fault. He could get out any time he chose, but knew he was not allowed to. Most of the time, he would get out and run around during the day while we were gone and then when he saw us coming home, he would run back under the fence and pretend he had been there the whole time!! lol. One day I was having a particularly bad day and I scolded him for being out and he took off running...he had never run from me before. I looked for him all day, called neighbors and everything. One neighbor called me later that evening and told me he had just left his house, I went out to look for him and found him dead on the side of the road just in front of my house. He was coming back home and had been hit not more than 10 minutes earlier. I still have not forgiven myself for scolding him. We have about an acre fenced, and when I took Caesar as a foster, I went around and checked every inch of it. I'd never fostered such a little dog! Several years ago, when we had our two lab/mixes and a doberman girl names Jinx, we had a horrible storm with trees and limbs down. We were clearing and cleaning up, but I didn't even think about walking the fence, and since we are mostly woods, I am not able to see the fence line. About a week later, my neighbor, a couple of houses down, called to say my two boys were at his house. (He takes care of our dogs and vice versa.) I couldn't belive it. I'd just let them out! I went out, and my dobe was at the door, ready to come in, so I brought the dogs home and then went out and walked the fence and found a whole tree had come down across the fence n the back corner. Either they didn't notice for a week, or they just didn't care. Needless to say, everytime we have a good storm, I go out and walk the fence.
