Tracy, I have two chis. I got my second chi when my first (female) was 3 yrs
old. She didn't like other dogs either, only my cat. So, at first (for the
first week) my oldest growled and barked at my new chi puppy. I kept them apart
for one week introducing them slowly. After a week they became best friends.
They are both female. My friend has a male weimeriner and he was very agressive
towards other dogs, especially other male dogs. Well, my friend got a male
chihuahua (she rescued him, someone dumped him on the streets) and it only took
a few days and now both males are best friends. It is possible for your male
dog to accept others into his little circle. Evelyn

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Question about getting another Chihuahua

My male Chihuahua will be a year old in February. He is the smartest,
funniest, craziest dog I've ever had and he is probably in the running
for the most spoiled dog contest. haha I have been thinking about
getting a second Chihuahua but I am not sure if it would be a good
idea. Anytime someone walks their dog in front of our home he gets
furious. He starts barking and his hair stands up. Once a friend of
mine got a boxer puppy and she brought her over... my dog wasnt happy
at all. We have a cat and he likes him but the dog is the boss...
even though the cat is bigger. LOL Has anyone's dog been like this
and still brought another dog into the home? I was considering a
female so there wouldn't be any alpha dog problems. I wasn't sure if
the chances of him accepting another dog would be better because she
would be so much smaller than him (unlike my friend's boxer pup). Any
insight would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Tracy
