I am not "anti vet" but I do know that vets do not know much about animal
nutrition.  They learn very little on the subject at vet school.  Science Diet
is mainly corn and is not a good quality food for dog or cats.  There are many
other foods out there that are better, so why don't they recommend those?
Hmmm.  You have to wonder.  If they are selling the Science Diet in their
clinics, they have to make some profit off of it.  I know for a fact that my
vet does.

Vets don't get commission selling science diet. I worked for several vet
clinics over the course of 8 years....we received ZERO dollars. We prescribed
it for animals who had specific problems. I would use it in a heartbeat. I
watched many animals with heart disease, kidney disease, blocked urinary
bladders all thrive once put on the appropriate diet. We used it because it
worked. As I say with all food though is this, if your pet is doing fine and is
happy and healthy with what they are eating don't change it. I think people
like to cut Science Diet because of the price and because many people are
"anti-vet". I see that same attitude in the horse world as well. Vets aren't
just out to make money, but hello, they do have to make a living and they do
have to pay for the education and they can't just give everything away for
free. It can be a thankless job in many ways. I appreciate the advice given to
me by my vets. If I didn't believe in them
I wouldn't go to them....sorry for the rant..
