I am so, so sorry for your loss.  How very tragic.  I just wish there was

on a side note:
Yes, animals do die of heart attacks at the vet.  I remember a cat that 
suffered one as he was so traumatized by the car ride and then all the 
strangers.  We did a necropsy and saw that he did have an underlying condition 
that wouldn't have been spotted until he was older, but the stress of the 
office visit was just too much.  I am not saying that is what happened, but if 
your vet has been good in the past I wouldn't be quick to lay blame on her/him. 
 Sometimes we want to blame others for bad things because we feel so terrible.  
It's easier to place blame somewhere than to suffer all the what if's and such. 
 I would have a necropsy done if possible and maybe at a different vets office, 
just for peace of mind.
