We have no way of restraining ours on a long trip. One curls up and goes to sleep in her bed and the other either lies down or bugs to get in my lap.

When you are in the car with your chi/s, are they free or in a seatbelt, carrier? We've been doing a lot more driving lately with the dogs and one lays on my shoulders, kinda like a neck pillow and the other on my husbands lap. We love having them close but I get worried that if we are in an accident they will be thrown about the car. I have been looking at all different seat belts, carriers etc and was wondering if anyone here has used them and what they did or didn't like about it. I hate to not have them on my lap or shoulders, but a dear friend of mine was in a truck accident and her border collie was thrown from the vehicle and killed. It's making me think twice!
