My one girl just runs if I use the clicker. I bought one to use with her but she is scared of the noise.

The best way to grab their attention to teach them a trick or command, you need to train them on an empty tummy with a treat that they are very, very interested in. I mostly use boiled chicken breast. Or sometimes freeze-dried liver. Both are easy to break into little tiny (pea sized) pieces. I also use the clicker training method with the treats. They tend to learn very fast that way and are very motivated.
