I trained my big boy Poncho, a Lab Mix, with Jelly Beans.. He was resistant
to almost all treats but thought Jelly Beans were gods gift to him. He was
almost 9 MO old when I got him and totally wild. I was just greatful to find
something that worked. I don't think I would go that route with Tia. I
tried to do some clicker training with him and it just scared him.

I was thinking of taking Tia to some classes at Petsmart this winter. That
is where I took Poncho because I knew nothing about training as he was my
first dog. I had actually planned on giving him away after his training but
couldn't bring myself to do it until he behaved better. Well he just turned
7 and is still my special pain in the butt. Lol. Lets just say he has issues
due to his early upbringing, that I think will never leave him. My daughter
rescued him from a schizophrenic crack addict. He has separation issues
(they are better), some major fears, and hip dysplasia, He is on a
prescription pain medication most days. I try not to give it everyday due to
the possibiliy of long term side effects.

Well anyway due to my history with him, I think given Tia's history pre me,
is why I have waited so long to work on the training other than the really
important stuff like Stay, leave it, and come. Now here is something that
just blows my mind.. She does Come very very well outside, but in the house.
Uh uh .. In fact she often hits the floor and sidles away. It is most
frustrating.
