I seen and been told that they respond to vibration. So if you stump your feed on the floor it will let them know your coming. You may want to look in to this.It makes sense.I'm with you not to startle them. You just have to get him just to it.Poor baby.
Lift up our Eyes,Father, that we might see our world as you see it.Help us respond as you respond to the hurt around us.
God bless you Brutus,Sissy and Claudia

When Scooter first started loosing her hearing about 2 years ago, she went
through some very strange changes. She was understandably confused and frightened about what was happening. She followed me around a lot and wanted to be near me all the time. She is normally very independent. She can hear certain levels of sound or different pitches or tones. And on top of that she has cateracs, so she doesn't see as well as she used to.
This is what I can tell you from my experience. Be careful when coming up behind him, it can startle him making it more scary for him. I do large hand motions to let Scooter know that I want her to come. And I have taught Pop to "get Scooter", so on my command, he will alert her that her attention is requested. She gets a little extra loving and attention every day and no matter what she does, she never gets scolded. She has earned the royal treatment. She is quite comfortable with her situation now, but because of her age, 15, I keep a close eye on any changes with her knowing that at
this stage in her life, her health could take a turn any day. Thank the Lord, she is very healthy and spry... other than her hearing, her eye sight and her missing teeth, but hey, she is a senior now.
So, my opinion for Jimmy is to take into concideration that this is a confussing and scary change for him. I doubt if there is dementia, but could be. The best thing you can do is help him to build his confidence and become comfortable with these changes. It will take time and tenderness, but that's easy when you love your dog.

Jimmy is going through a change. He a little down and I don't know how to help him other then motioning with my hands and petting him more. Jimmy is losing his hearing. And is a little
down. I trying to figure out if he has a touch of dementia. He used to bite me all the time now he don't. As much as I appreciate not getting bit it is out of character. Also he only cuddle with me in bed when he didn't feel good. Now its every night. They are some people around here who are on the Internet that have deaf dogs and says they can communicate with them. I going to contact them. I was just wondering what you guys think could it be only deafness or do you think some dementia. And what do you think I should do. IncrediMail! Click Here!
