Arlene, I'm sorry to hear about Jimmy's difficulties! !  How old is he?  Any dog can be taught new things, no matter what their age is.  If he is going deaf, you can teach him hand signals instead of verbal commands.  I bought an excellent book on amazon.com called "101 Dog Tricks."  It has both verbal commands and hand signals.  Word of Caution:  The author of the book occasionally uses physical manipulation on her big dog.  Physical manipulation is NEVER an option when training Chihuahuas!!  You may want to consider getting this book, Arlene, if Jimmy's eyesight is good enough.  Good Luck!!

Jimmy is going through a change.  He a little down and I don't know how to help him other then motioning with my hands and petting him more.  Jimmy is losing his hearing.  And is a little down.    I trying to figure out if he has a touch of dementia.  He used to bite me  all the time   now he don't. As much as I appreciate not getting bit it is out of character. Also he only cuddle with me in bed when he didn't feel good.  Now its every night.  They are some people around here who are on the Internet that have deaf dogs and says they can communicate with them.  I going to contact them.  I was just wondering what you guys think could it be only deafness or do you think some dementia. And what do you think I should do.
