Hi, Sheila!

I understand everything you are saying, actually I
understand what everyone is saying, but.....I do believe that education
is the key to solving this problem.  Children and adults need to
be taught that all animals regardless of what they are, are NOT
disposable.  When a person chooses to take an animal into their
life, it is a lieftime comittment.  Only through education either
in schools, homes, and by example, can this be taught and
learned.  My favorite expression is: "Values are caught, not
taught".  Everyone needs to realize that children are
watching.  Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now!

Yes I agree with all that but no matter how you slice it people
will run out

and buy the dogs then they will end up in shelters all over again. History

tells you that. And Marsha, there are way more unethical breeders out there

than ever. For one of you there are dozen more bad ones. All you have to do

is look at the shelters, the rescues etc..The horror stores are endless

because people do not think.

Just take a look back at what happened when the Taco Bell commercials came

out and all the celebs started carrying dogs around with them. Same thing

happened with 101 Dalmatians.

The movie will cause it because of the way people are.

The movie is not going to cause anything except entertainment. It is US the

buyers and sellers of pups, that will cause the problems if we are not

careful. We have discussed this a great deal on some of my breeders groups.

Bottom line, this movie WILL boost puppy sales, no doubt about it, BUT, it

is up to each of us, as ethical and responsible breeders, to make sure that

the people we are selling our pups to are people who are actually wanting a

pup and not people who have fallen for the latest trend. Of course, we can't

quarantee anything, but we have to be much more diligent during this time

period. And, we need to make sure our buyers know...and stick behind the

promise...that no matter what the reason, EVER, the pups can always be

returned. We wont BUY them back, but we will take them back because they are

our responsibility for life. I always make sure my buyers know the pup can

come back for any reason at any point in its life...that there is never any

reason for any pup I have bred to end up in a shelter.
