You are going to get many different opinions on this one. Our girls get 1/4 cup dry AM and PM with green beans. They are on California Natural mixed low-fat and regular. Limited amount of Chicken treats, and Solid Gold soft treats for training - walks and plenty of exercise helps too... He is about 2 yrs old. A while back the vet suggested that we feed him only dog food, but this just isn't possible. I've been feeding my dogs canned Pedigree for many years with no problems, but I try to feed them real chicken or beef when I can. Little Bear doesn't seem to know when to stop eating. He will clean up his plate and then go to the other's plates to steal more. I usually have to stand over them while they eat so that he won't devour their food too. Even though it seems to me that I'm not overfeeding, he still gains the weight. I keep doggie treats in their snack bowl, but they only pick a few daily (the bowl isn't cleaned out). I do occasionally give them table scraps (sausage left over from breakfast, or left over meat), but not very often. Some days I boil frozen chicken tenderloins, or grill a hamburger or steak. I've been backing off from the canned food due to what I've been reading about how its made, seems gross, to a point that I feel guilty giving it to them. I've feed them Pedigree for years. Sometime I feed them EN from the vet (he suggests this). Any suggestions for cutting down his weight? I feed my dogs twice a day. Little Bear
