I have a friend who SWORE by these snuggle safe pads. Till one day when the pad burst open and the gel inside, which had liquidized during heating, dripped out all over her hands. She ended up in the ER with sever burns to her hands....so definitely not safe either.
Here is a cheap and safe alternative!!! I make corn pads for my chis. Basically just sew a small pillow out of fleece material and fill with whole corn like you get at a feed store. Heat in the microwave the same as you would the snuggle safe. No chance of any gel turning to liquid....and, if somehow the pad breaks and the corn falls out and the dogs eat it...it is just corn...wont hurt them. Some people make these using rice instead of corn. That works just as well, but can get expensive, lol. With these pads, after a month or so of use, you can throw them away if they have become soiled or something. Since whole feed corn runs about 10 dollars for a 50 pound bag, you can afford to toss :-) I will never use anything like the snuggle pads after seeing pics of my friend's hand!
