The exact thing happened to my Princess Lola. After about a week of antibiotics wherein they thought it was kennel cough, the vet had me bring her back for some x-rays. Turns out that she developed pneumonia. I would take her back if it does not go away, just to make sure it hasn't developed into pneumonia. She was on medication for about 3 weeks before it went away. The vet put her on ten days antibiotics and she got a little better. The previous owner said it was kennel cough and it would run its course in 2 weeks. She is still coughing.
