Hi, Debbie! This is Elizabeth! My last dog, not a chi, was diabetic! He ws diagnosed when he was 7 and lived to be almost 16!! He was a great dog and I still miss him. He was extremely large, a malamute shepherd mix, but diabetes is diabetes. I gave him an injection every morning and had to monitor both his food intake and exercise level. Each day I tested his urine with ph paper. It seems overwhelming at the start, but you'll find that you get into a routine and it becomes like second nature! Ask me anything!
