I did my girl when she was 6 months old, she weighed almost 4lbs - but I have a wonderful vet who I have trusted with all my animals for 25 years, but I was still nervous. But I was nervous with my big dog too - I am just a born worry wart - but Abbey did great. He gave her pain meds that she needed on day 2 that was the hardest day, but then she did fine.
