Hi usually this behavior is that the anal glands are full. The anal glands are scent glands. I use to bath dogs for a living, and this was a common practice of the grooming shop. We had to express the anal glands when we put them in the tub for a bath. Now, do not just do this at home anywhere. lol... Its a dark brown messy very very stinky job! (it usually squirts out!) Usually a grooming shop can do it for you. (petco or petsmart) It needs to be done in a bathtub or on a table with a towel. I prefer a grooming shop in the tub where they can rinse off the butt area with water! It can be uncomfy for the dog at the time, but relief after. If you want to learn how to do it, ask a grooming shop or vet to show you. allow them to let you do your own dog to see how to do it.
