Their can be several reasons why a dog rubs its butt. Sometimes, just to clean their butt . Sometimes they may feel that they still have to go and are having a hard time passing it out, especially if it is a piece of rawhide or some thing they didn't digest properly. Sometimes they can have worms, and their are a couple that can only be seen under a microscope, so you should drop off a stool specimen to the vet. Some times it is because the anal gland is full. Gigi had hers expressed last month when she got spayed. For the last couple of days she has been looking at her back a lot. So I checked her gland and they needed to be emptied, which I did and their was a lot. So maybe the vet forgot or she just filled up again. If she continues to keep looking at her back and butt, then I will have to drop off a stool specimen, and take it from their.
