Thank you for the encouragement. You answered a question...my male "Bentley" must have the double coat. His coat is thick chocolate and soft like velvet, after a bath his coat is poofy. My little girl "Haka" must be single coated, her white coat lies flatter [she resembles Petey from the Little Rascals], but has the same softness.
His front legs were pure white now they have the cutest freckles! There is nothing like waking and seeing they fly out of the crate and leap into my lap, tongues flapping, she does the hug-me dance. I was looking at pictures last night posted by other owners and I saw several adult chihuahua with the same exact build as Haka. I think my concern was because from lack of knowledge with the breed as well as the vast difference in looks between 2 siblings. Bentley is all about getting approval and when he has used the training pad runs to me and loves the praise. She is more concerned with getting close to the pad, a near hit is ok with her. Because she is BUSY! Her aim is improving : ). I also read last night about plain/vanilla full fat yogurt, I am going to try that with Haka. We live in the Boston area and it is getting cold, a bit more meat on her bones will help her.
