I use a soft brush and brush her fur in reverse first, then I use a metal flea comb and comb towards her back and down the sides, you wouldn't believe how much dead fur comes off of the comb! Her clothes are loaded with fur, as is me! She really isn't a full long haired Chi. Gigi is a black and tan, has short thick fur on her body, but then has a little bit of long fur on her ears, the back of her legs and rump and tail.
I too thought with the cold weather that she would stop shedding by now. -------Original Message------- From: mj turner Date: 12/6/2010 12:27:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Chi Shedding I think it may have something to do with the type of coat they have. Benji has a very thick coat all over.... like maybe an undercoat of soft fur and then an outercoat of longish hair that really grabs into everything. just musing.... Jack, my newest addition to the fur family, is a white chi and I am covered in hair every time he gets up from my lap. I’m surprised to see him lose this much hair in such cold weather. I’ve tried brushing him but he’s such a wiggle worm. J My other Chi, Twiggy doesn’t seem to shed nearly as much as Jack. Gig finished her heat by the end of Aug. Then at the end of Sept she got spayed. So I expected she would go through a heavy shed due to hormonal changes. But now that two months have passed, I don't see the shedding lighting up, if anything it's worse. I thought that after two months from the spaying that she would stop shedding. Is this normal for a Chi? Do they shed all year around? Also I have two old fantastic lint removers that work great for Eskie fur, but don't for Chi fur. It's like the chi fur sticks into the material like needles. What brand and type do you ladies use to get it off of your clothes and furniture?
