Shanna, that's weird too. It seems very uncomfortable to try balancing on two while doing something like that. It may sound weird but I would like to see something like that as I have never seen anything like that either. I have 3 dogs and 2 of them poop "normal" put one just walks around. Oh well, it makes for some interesting stories.

Sometimes Ricky take a couple steps while pooping... but most of the time he balances on his front feet and holds both back legs up at the same time while pooping!! He has tried this while on a little incline.. and it did not work out to well...

Neither of my chi's kick their feet after going potty but one of my girls walks while she poops. Does anybody else's dog do this? I have never seen a dog walk around while pooping.

Both my females do this. Princess, my eskie does nothing but mark territory when we walk. She is an Alpha female. Gigi will usually mark on top of hers. They both kick afterwards too.  In order to get them into a real walk, which means no stopping, no smelling, I have to walk them in the middle of the street, and I keep the walk at a good brisk pace for a steady 30-45 minutes.  It's great exercise for them, and me, and they usually sleep for a couple of hours afterwards.
 
I don't know about scent glands in their paws, I never heard about that. I did read once that by kicking, it spreads their scent from the pee or poop and defines more territory.

Hi everyone

I always wondered why a dog kicks his back feet after he or she does a pee or poo. I thought it was a "male dog"  thing to look big and tough. I recently did a google research on it and read that dogs have SCENT GLANDS in there feet and kicking or rubbing them on the ground or grass puts there scent there for other dogs to be warned "I was here".

Ricky kicks after every single pee or poo... and on a walk he pees alot!! its kinda cute to see him almost in slow motion as he does his kicking!

How about anyone else's dog, do they do this and it is a male thing or does anyones female do it too.
