This is just information for folks that feel rabies shots are no longer
needed in dogs.

The 10-county regions as monitored by Northwest Georgia Public Health has
seen an increase in rabid animal cases in recent years. There were 31
reported cases of animals tested positive for rabies in this 10-county
region with 378 cases statewide. This is NW Georgia's highest rate since
2003. I am will to bet this is happening in other areas also.
It appears that most of the rabies comes from Bats and raccoons. We live in
a areas where wild animals abound. There is no way my dogs and cats would
not be vaccinated.
They amount is probably higher because a lot of the bites go unreported.

Just food for thought.
