Photo: Miami-Dade shelter Medley, Florida - Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter is not taking in any more dogs or puppies for the next few weeks because of canine distemper, an infectious and highly contagious virus. The disease affects the respiratory and central nervous system which can be fatal. According to Dr. Sara Pizano, director of the shelter, it is necessary to empty the shelter and adopt out and foster as many dogs as possible. Pizano denied a rumor that all dogs not adopted by the weekend would be euthanized, but did say no dog is safe. --- In [email protected], <meccarose@...> wrote: > > > has sent you a link: "Infectious Disease Forces Partial Lockdown Of Miami-Dade Animal Shelter - Video - WPLG Miami" > > The link: > http://www.local10.com/video/27313947/index.html?taf=mia > > Message from : Trouble at the Miami Dade Animal Shelter. >
