That makes it easier to taper down.

My vet usually gives Torbutol for Dolly & Desi when they need pain meds. It
is liquid and depending on what is wrong with them in between vet visits, I
determine how much they need.usually not much for teething; and I can
usually see if what I gave them helped. I hope that Monster is more awake
and feeling better tomorrow.

Its a liquid and the vet said its like morphine. I read up on it and its
supposedly safer then morphine and I think stronger.

Hi Lorena,

I was recently talking to someone regarding pain meds of the human kind.
For my spinal injuries, I have been taking Kadian (morphine sulphate) and
Percocet for breakthrough pain. So, I was telling a friend that I didn't
really understand why people pay to take drugs, when all I feel is tired and
never anything that makes me happy. She told me that when we have pain, the
meds go to ease the pain. The major part of the drug is used in the nervous
system to stop the pain. People who take pain meds for a good feeling, get
that feeling because there are no nerves in the nervous systems that need
the relief and then it becomes something to make someone feel high.

So, we know that Monster slept from the meds.and I am not sure of what that
med is, but it sounds slightly familiar. If he still appears in pain after
this initial dose wears off, then give him half of what you did; and if he
still is way too drugged cut it a little further. Is it a tablet or a
liquid that you give with a syringe?

The other day I told yall Monster wasn't feeling well again right? Well, the
vet had him on 2 pain meds because she thinks it his disks again. I think I
told yall that too. Well, 1 of the meds I had to stop giving him because it
made him foam and shake his head a lot. So yesterday she switched him to a
new med called buprenex. I gave it to him last night and it was WAY too
strong. He could barely move and his tongue was sticking out a little. And
today he's barely eaten and he's still a little drowsy and I haven't given
him that med again. The vet told me to give him half the dose if I think he
really needs it. I don't know why she gave him something so strong. We don't
even know for sure he's in pain. If he is, its not enough to need to be
sedated like that. Right? I feel so bad for him. I hope I didn't make the
wrong decision... He's still feeling the effects of last nights dose and he
just wants me to hold him all day... Please pray that he gets better soon.
