Hmmm…you had the many excuses why you couldn’t see the parents too! I was just wondering on the girls if the ovaries or something else in their reproductive system gets the horrible cancer, or if they are not attached and can choke something off inside.
Breeders that produce these puppies – if they truly are a reputable breeder – would know that there is a problem and not use them as breeders. To be so greedy to breed a dog that shouldn’t be bred, and then the puppies have this passed on disorder, is a crime! We have the boys and so we knew because it was visible…my vet knew before he neutered Desi, in fact he discovered it and did Desi’s neuter about two months earlier than he would have normally. We know that our boys are OK now, but I shudder to think of a little girl that the owners don’t know something is wrong and want to breed her and then down the line they lose her to a cancer or her ovaries choking something off inside. Her reproductive parts are inside…and if she was not spayed the owner would probably not know until it were too late. The vet did tell me that if the undescended testicle was not removed that it turns into the biggest and ugliest looking cancer. He had told me that he had to do the neuter as soon as he checked Desi when he was just about 3 months old…he said that if it were not removed that it could wrap around the artery or even an organ in the stomach and choke it off. I did try to make an appt to see his sire…I told the breeder that I wanted a family picture…one with Desi and his biological parents. She had given his sire to a friend, who then moved and couldn’t keep him so instead of him giving him back to the breeder he sold him on Craigs list. Well…you wouldn’t do that with a breeding male. This man used to breed german shepards so I am sure that he knew that male could not be bred. Desi’s mother was sold to a lady that lived down the street from the breeder, but then she told me that lady moved away. All a bunch of stories because she may have known what was going on because the owner of Desi’s littermate brother had been bringing him to the breeder for his shots, except that one time she went with me to my vet. She wanted to breed hers first before he was neutered. I really can’t understand people that are told that their puppy basically has a time bomb inside of them and they are only thinking about breeding so that they can get a free puppy out of it. If she either went back to the breeder for more shots or called the breeder about what Dr. Bullard had said, then the breeder knew that she could not let me see Desi’s parents. When you talk about females getting it, I wonder if maybe his mother had the problem that was passed on to him…oh well I will never know, I watch Desi closely for things, Dr. Bullard checks him out every time we go for a shot. Can’t really do much more than that. If the undecended testicle is not removed it becomes cancerous. We waited for the neuter hoping it would decend--Pedro had one smal incision ans easy time but Chico had several cuts and had problems in surgery. Vet kept Pedro also cause she said Chico would do better if Pedro was with him and I think I cried the entire time--they were so small but I had been told that could be problems. My vet said it can only be from too closely bred, or the father had the same problem. If the sire has it, it is passed on to every male puppy. Desi ha to be neutered before 4months because the vet caught it when Desi went for a shot. The vet had to cut him 4 separate places to free it for removal. I sterilized the dog dishes before feeding this morning and will do it again tonight. Tonight they will get rice again with a little broth. I'm washing all the dog blankets, just to make sure there is nothing in them. I am making their trips outside very short as it is quite cold. I know the chi’s like fruit and veggies. So yesterday I shared my salad. Evidently I gave them too much. I’m praying that is it.
