Wow.that is scary because Desi is a licker.constantly cleaning his arms, his
paws, his eyes, etc.

I know that I was talking to the vet's office on the phone one day and
trying to find out what I could do for Dolly because she is having a hard
time pooping. I think they told me to give her the pure pumpkin, and I am
almost positive they said to not give Olive oil. I don't know if someone
had suggested that to me, or if the vet just said it.

My friend has a cat and she gives them a little dab of Vaseline to help move
those fur balls out. But that is a cat so I don't know about dogs on that
either.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Nikki Had a Hairball

Nikki, who is 2.5 years old and weighs just 4 lbs, was rushed to the vet a
few weeks ago, and after 2 blood transfusions, emergency surgery, and 25
staples in his little tummy, it was discovered that he had a hairball the
size of my little finger! He stayed at the vet's for a total of 4 days. Yes,
he does lick himself a lot and we do have two Samoyeds with long hair. Has
anyone else had this problem? Our vet suggested giving him a dab - like 1
mil - of olive oil every once in a while to help move things along in his
tummy. He is fine now, back to his normal self of protecting Mom and trying
to put the Sammies, one of whom is 45 lbs, the other is 65 lbs, in their
place which he does very well, thank you. On the other hand, it could be the
Sammies just ignore him!
