All 140 dogs were not necessarily stolen. SOME of the dogs may still have
owners who want them back, but microchipping does not necessarily mean that
this is the case. Owners still relinquish their microchipped dogs to
shelters and rescues.
The articles says that SOME dogs appear to be microchipped, but certainly
not all of them.
I'm not defending these women, as I'm just as disgusted and horrified as
everyone else at the discovery made during the traffic stop, but this is
starting to turn into a game of 'Telephone' now.
I would close this with the injunction to check out the bona fides of ANY
"rescue" before surrendering your furbaby into their ostensible care. Some
appear to use the title "rescue" to cover for the sad but common illness
that seems to cause otherwise well-meaning people to "hoard" animals and end
up neglecting their care in their zeal to "protect" the animals in their
possession.
