I have to think that the only thing that is probably different between the toy
food and the small dog food is the size of the kibble.

My two eat a total of ½ cup a day. Desi is 9 lbs and Dolly is 7-8 lbs. They
get very few treats and they are maintaining a good stable weight.

Some food has a lot of fillers and it takes more and more to get their
nutrition. But I don’t think that much food would be causing him to LOSE
weight. I am for taking him to the vet for a little exam.

I assume he has been checked by your Vet to make sure he hasnt a medical
issue?? Rapid weight loss , lethargy, and vomiting doesn't sound like a food
problem, especially given the amount he is eating. My guys only get 1/3 of a
cup a day and they maintain their weight fine. 2 cups is a huge amount of food
for a little one.

Hello all,

I am a first time poster and have to say some of the items on here are quite
useful.

Now however I need to reach out for some feedback and help.

My little man. He is a 9 year old short hair apple head. I found him in a
shelter about a year ago and he has thoroughly bonded with me (which makes my
wife jealous once in a while!) but in any case, here is the issue. Initially
when I got him he was a healthy 8lbs and very lively. At the shelter he was in,
they had him on Purina One Toy Breed which is what I fed him in the beginning.
However, he lost a lot of weight very quickly even eating 2 cups a day of the
toy breed. So I switched him to small dog at the recommendation of the folks at
the shelter he came from. I now feed him Purina One Small dog. The new problem,
he has become somewhat lethargic, he has problems keeping food down, and he has
some trouble going to the bathroom that he has never had before. What should I
be feeding him? What works for some of you, and have any of you seen this in
your little ones?
