I will be interested to hear everyone's reply on this Gwen, as I will be adding a third Chi to my family within the next month (hopefully)! He is about 11 months old so I am hoping he will learn to potty outside quickly also. It sounds like you are doing the right things. Do you know if his previous owners trained him to potty inside? On potty pads perhaps? Cindy

To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, February 16, 2012, 4:49 PM We just got another 2 year old chihuahua. He was scared to the point that we weren't sure he would ever accept our home but after 2 days (which is fast) he is happy as can be with us and our other chi. He was supposedly trained but I can't get him to go outside. He is a smart little guy but it's like he can't get a clue to go outside to potty. We have two others and take them all out - heap praise on them when they go and hope he understands but it just goes right over his head. We have a fire hydrant in front of our house which is loaded with doggie scents - so I took him out there - NO! He sniffed it all over and walked away. Took him for a walk - still nothing. I have caught him going in the house and immediately pick him up and take him to our doggie yard but nothing happens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Is there a problem when they are 2 years old that they can't be trained as easily or at all? Gwen
