Yes…I agree. I have heard of several Chihuahuas dying during dental surgery or shortly thereafter due to the infection which had already gone through their body.
Please let us know what the vet says. Beware that a swollen and sensitive mouth could also be that she is having a toxic reaction to something. Even a spider or bee sting, or if she ate a leaf from a household/outside plant, can cause the same reaction. So in this case I would not give her anything, but take her to a Vet asap and find out why her mouth is swollen. If it is a bad tooth she will need it out anyway to avoid any bacteria from going through her system, which would cause even more problems. Is it possible that maybe one of the other dogs could have accidently bit her lip during playtime? It maybe worth trying to really look at her mouth, she could even have a splinter of something on her tongue or lip or gum......To many possibilities with a swollen mouth. She needs a Vet check. Please let me know what you decide and how she is doing.
