I forgot to add that if her kibble has a lot of rice or corn in it, that could cause the dry poop and even irritate her system enough to see blood. I had that once with Gigi when I tried a food that had rice and rice additives that caused her stool to be dry and also have white lumps in it. She obviously wasn't digesting the rice, and it stopped once I changed her diet again. If a dog isn't drinking enough that can also cause drier poop. A good kibble will have chicken as the first and second ingredient.

So I don't think that you panicked, but did the wise thing. Pumpkin is used on basically healthy dogs, so not sure if a dog that has shown any blood if it would be a good idea or not. Since she seems to be doing better on her own this time, why not give her a couple of more days and then see if she needs the pumpkin. Also I would keep a close check on her and see if she turns around to look at her rear back a lot. Or if she seems to be sensitive when you touch her rear back and turns around to look at your hand. If so, that could be a sign of stones either in her kidneys or bladder and sometimes you may even see little crystals in the poop. Some times when stones starts, it takes a couple of months before the test actually shows it, symptoms are usually evident way before the blood and stool/urine test confirm it. I went through that and so did my sister with dogs. We knew that something wasn't right and so did the dogs, but the vets couldn't find anything wrong until they had lots of stones that showed up on an xray. Sorry, I really don't mean to scare you, or make you nervous...just aware and educated. The odds are she really is fine, and could have just eaten something that didn't agree with her and caused her poop to go dry. So because her poop was dry, then I would not give her anything that is hard to digest, but rather soak her kibble first so that it passes through her system a little more gentle for a couple of days, just to play it safe. Margie I would also check all the packages that you have for treats and rawhides, bones, toys, and make sure that none of them say Made In China. If it says Distributed from the US, that is not the same as being made here with only our ingredients, and most likely is from China. You probably have heard of all of the dogs getting sick and some have died from treats that are still being sold in Walmart, the supermarkets, and the pet shops. Waggin Bones and the like, use ingredients that come from china and they are on the list for dogs that have gotten sick and died. What brand and which blend of dog food are you feeding her? Vet ran blood tests and fecals on her and found nothing wrong with Liza that goodness. Vet did complete exam too and said she could have had a little intestinal bug. Vet also expressed her anal glad. Liza did not appreciate that one, and told the vet so with a loud screech! That was ok. Liza's stool was dry and the vet thought that could have caused the blood. Usually Liza's stool is moist. Tonight she is eating and drinking well, and she acts like her old self again. Guess I panicked but she is my only dog now so I got a little worried. If she experiences this again, I will try the pumpkin and wait a few days to see if she gets over it. Thanks all for your help. Liza thanks you too. Great information here! Margie
