Have they checked him for ear mites?

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Dry skin & allergies
We would like some help. Our chihuahua has scratched himself raw. We took
him to the vet. We changed food and treats, no table food. He was ok for 3
weeks. He scratched himself raw under his neck. Our vet is closed on
weekends,we took him to a animal emergency center. We were given ointments
plus a benedryl liquid . He lays his head down on the carpet and goes side
to side to scratch his head area. Anyone experience similar symptoms?
