Welcome, you can Google and find ratings for different brands of dog food. The
first three ingredients listed are important, you want to stay away from those
with lots of grains and calories. A baby Chi will have to be fed small
portions, three times a day. Grown ones need no more than 1/3 cup of kibble,
divided into two portions. If you check the group files you'll find a lot of
discussion on food. Good luck.

Welcome to the group! I have two chis--you can see Layla in the pic below, and
we also have another chi-JJ who is much bigger. You will find Chis will
delight you, surprise you, and amaze you at how intelligent they truly are!
I've never done home-cooked before, but I know there are some on here that
do...so glad you joined, and can't wait to see pics of your little one!

Hi everyone,

I am a new member to the group. I will be rescuing a Chihuahua sometime
tomorrow and this is the first time I have ever had a small dog. I've always
had big dogs all throughout my life but am wanting to get a small dog this
time. I am wondering if you can give me recommendations on what type of dog
food would be best. The dog that we recently had to have put to sleep was on a
home cooked diet and I'm not sure I want to go that route again. Thanks for any
suggestions. I look forward to learning much about my new little friend.

Melissa
