This is just what I do and I am not a groomer! I use a good oatmeal pet shampoo or I like Bubbles and Beads Pet Shampoo. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_17?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=bubbles+and+beads+dog+shampoo&sprefix=bubbles+and+beads%2Caps%2C224. It smells nice and leaves their coat conditioned and shiny. You can bathe them as often as once a week but I do it just about once a month or every 6 weeks. It depends on when they get dirty and need a bath. If they are itchy and I know fleas are not the issue I will give them a nice oatmeal bath which is soothing to the skin. I use our kitchen sink in FL and our laundry sink here in MI. All of our Chi's do not seem to mind a bath. They don't like being cold and wet so I try to do it on a warm day when they can dry in the sunshine. Sue
