It is not pin compatible. The Sharp parts are just 3 pin devices Vcc, Gnd, and Vin. Off the top of my head the TOTX173 has one extra pin to which you connect a drive limiting resistor to gnd.
I order one each of the Sharp parts that digikey carries to experiment with. The Sharp datasheets are pretty sparse. It appears that you just connect the output of a digital audio driver (like the CS8405A) to Vin. I want to use the GP1FA511TZ, but I could only find a footprint for the GP1FA550TZ on Sharp's web site. They look like they might have the same footprint - I'll find out when they arrive. The GP1FA511TZ even has a retractable door so that you do not need to remove, store, and replace that little cover that fits in the Toshiba part. One place that did not have the TOTX173 in stock listed the price at around $6, so I was happy to find the Sharp parts. I hope that I am not missing a catch somewhere. --BobG -----Original Message----- Sent: Friday, October 11, 2002 5:54 PM To: Multiple recipients of list CHIPDIR-L At 12:24 PM 10/11/2002 -0800, you wrote: >The GP1FA511TZ is $1.03@100. That's a *good* price! Is it footprint compatible with the TOTX173? The Toshiba thing is about twice as expensive. Might even be worth to re-design the Gemini PCB... thanks! -- Jens Schnfeld -- Author: Jens INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Network Services -- 858-538-5051 http://www.fatcity.com San Diego, California -- Mailing list and web hosting services --------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB CHIPDIR-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
