I could be wrong but both chips with contiguous numbers smell like custom jobs labeled with in-house part numbers. This is more likely if what you are fixing is a mass-produced appliance.
If the display is a custom design ( for example the display for a microwave oven), one of the chips might be a custom display driver and the other an OTP micro.

yes, it's a custom display, so you're probably right.
