The package: Start with a module like a double scr with 4 tiny pins at
one end. These modules are wider, and lower than your average scr pack.
They are black, very square - a plastic reminiscent of bakelite. The
three screw terminals are C1, E2, and E1/C2. The 4 tiny spades are B1,
E1, B2, E2. I am convinced it is not an igbt (see my other post).
I never bothered with the drive circuit - there are modules that stand
up they are sealed. If one of those is gone, I can forget it. This unit
had coolant in which blew away the mains side. The rest seems OK.

The success rate and the economy of a repair varies once power modules
are gone. I have fixed a few in my time.
