Hello, 
If the embedded PMU 68HC05 chip is the source of
problems (known-good internal HDD not being recognized
and not booting, fan turning on and off; using an
external powered SCSI device eliminates all problems),
is it possible to reflash the chip ? 
This is a 3400c/180 Mhz PowerBook.
